Kilnsey Park opens its own weather station!

Kilnsey Park now boasts its own weather station which visitors to Kilnsey Park can see in operation.

The weather station, complete with an anemometer to measure the wind, rain collector/gauge, humidity gauge, indoor and outdoor thermometers, UV & solar sensors, and barometer, is totally powered by solar energy.  The information it produces is transmitted onto the internet, with the data being updated every 10 seconds.

The weather station has been installed by John Livesley of www.mylocalweather.org.uk who said:  “We are very pleased to have been able to relocate our Upper Wharfedale weather station to Kilnsey Park as it is an ideal location for us.

“Our first weather station was installed in 2008. We are now one of the main weather providers for the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and we also provide a weather feed for many Dales organisations.”

Anthony Roberts, owner of Kilnsey Park said: “We are very excited to have our own weather station. The state of the weather is something of constant interest to all British people and I think our visitors will be captivated by it.  But on a practical level, some people assume the weather in the Dales will be poor when in fact it is so often glorious!  This way, people can check the precise weather conditions at Kilnsey Park before coming out for the day. It’s also of great benefit to anybody intending to go walking in the hills as they can satisfy themselves as to the suitability of the conditions.”
