How to cook Kilnsey Trout

You can download our leaflet on How to cook Kilnsey Park Trout here.

Why trout is good for you!

The qualities contained in fish can do much to protect us against serious illness which is why government health experts recommend that we eat one or two portions of fish per week, and one of these portions should be of an oil rich fish such as trout.

Oil rich fish are high in Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Research has shown that these acids can lower blood fat levels and reduce blood clotting, thus cutting the risk of fatal heart attacks.

There is also growing research that demonstrates the importance of Omega 3 in the development of children's brains and retinas. It is therefore particularly important that young children, pregnant and breastfeeding women eat regular portions of fish.

Also oil rich supplements have also been found to help the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, such as swollen and tender joints, grip strength and mobility.

An average portion of grilled trout provides 1.838 grams of Omega 3, which is at the level of the weekly health guidelines of 1.5 grams per week.

Although trout is an oil rich food, it is low in fat and calories! It contains one third the fat of salmon and contains just 135 calories per 100g. It is also an excellent source of iron, calcium, selenium and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and B12. Its natural oils help to keep skin and hair in good condition.

So, enjoy some trout from Kilnsey today knowing that not only does it taste great, but it is helping your body!
